In the Toulouse trial, which has been covered extensively in the press, the State and the SNCF for the first time were held liable for conduct (namely, the transfer to, and internment in, the camp of Drancy) which was effected in furtherance of the anti-Semitic policies of Vichy. The court in particular rejected the defendants’ argument that the statute of limitations barred the claims.
